Week 3, Thing 6
•February 25, 2008 • Leave a CommentWeek 2, Thing 3 and 4
•February 24, 2008 • Leave a CommentOkay. I set up a blog hopefully because I wrote down my log in and password this time, I will be able to keep adding to it. Seems pretty easy, but really does anyone have time to read all these blogs.
I emailed my account so I can be listed on the 23things page for VT.
Week 3, Thing 5
•February 24, 2008 • Leave a CommentI set up a flicker account in the Fall right after I attended AASL in Reno. I asked to be added to the VT librarian Group and have uploaded some photos of my school there. I just asked to be part of the VT 23 things group and once I am added I will upload some photos there. I have been using iphoto for a number of years and have posted digital images many times.
It is interesting to look at the photos published about libraries.
Can’t wait to explore mashers, I guess it isn’t a kind of potato!
Week 1, Thing 1
•February 24, 2008 • Leave a CommentOkay now that I am starting this thing 1, I feel like Dr. Seuss with his Thing 1 and Thing 2.
I am very excited about being a part of this VT program- although I am tagging on rather late due to having had surgery only a month ago, then recuperating at home. Anyway, I am glad I found out about this. I have done some dabbling before. I started a blog last year for my students on books and reading but somehow got out of the habit. This will force me to keep it going and also to have a focus.
I did spend quite a bit of time reading blogs last year but again it is all about time and also as others have commented – there is already so much to read, how can we keep adding more. I do like that thought of journaling on line though. Sometimes it is interesting to read what others say and also to get comments from others. I’ll see how it goes.
Week 1, Thing 2
•February 24, 2008 • Leave a CommentPointers from life long learners. Hmmm.
Am I a life long learner ? Absolutely, yes I can say with a definite YES! I am involved in many new ventures and I enjoy most of them. I am starting to do more picking and choosing rather then being involved with everything. I enjoy learning new things and think of it as a challenge. I am especially pleased when I find out that something I thought was going to be difficult turns out to be fun.
I am excited that our tech staff will finally be allowing us to edit our own web pages. I am interested in adding a book blog for kids once I get the passwords from the tech staff.
I am hoping to incorporate many of the VT 23 things to my school websites. I have two, one that is set up by the school and one that is set up on the school consortium page. I’ll have to see how I will work that one out.
Writing my thoughts out loud
•February 24, 2008 • 2 CommentsOkay, this is the start of something new for me- writing my thoughts for others to see.
Basically I am a writer and a reader. I love to write and I love to read. I read pretty much anything and everything although contemporary fiction is not my favorite. I have written poetry, essays and journal entries for years but I have never shared them with anyone. I love to write in the stream of consciousness style. Maybe I am a coward or maybe I am a private person who doesn’t like to share my thoughts with everyone. I will have to think through what I want to share here.
Lately I have been writing long emails to friends. Email has changed things for me. I used to write long letters to friends and I love stationary and cards, but with email the replies are quicker and I can write faster on the computer than I can when I hand write. I find that very interesting as many of my friends tend to draft things on paper first then go onto the computer.
I am on a few list serves and find myself not responding when simple questions are asked. I tend to wait until something of more substance is asked before I respond. Then I can pretty much be very opinionated or rant about some topic that is dear to my heart.
I have very definite thoughts about my profession and have been a practicing library media specialist for over 35 years. It hardly seems possible that I have been in the business for that long.
